I was very skeptical about Ikea cabinets too until we did two kitchen remodels with them. They are extremely well made for the money. And, they look great! We used all 'Akurum' in the 'Adel birch'. We also mixed in some with glass doors.

What Ta said.

Seriously, we've put them in two kitchens, an office, and a laundry room now, and I am sold on IKEA cabinets. They're great looking and very easy to DIY. If you don't like their door styles, you can buy the boxes and have another company make replacement doors; google "custom ikea cabinet doors"

i have them in my kitchen - after about 2 years - still very happy with them. My parent's old house had them as well - I was in High School at the time - like 20 years ago and when the house came back on to the market 5 years ago the cabinets were still there and looked just as nice.

we saw these at the eastplaoalto store today -- they were unceremoniously slipped in next to the standard faire. they were nice, but not solid wood. the drilled backside revealed particleboard like the others...

Actually some of Ikea's cabinets are coming from some of the same manufacturing facilities as some of the Italian or German high end cabinetry lines.
