While we would really like one of these recipe rails, like the one Jennifer's husband built for her, our equipment for recipe holding right now just involves magnets and a fridge. But here's one more good idea for keeping a recipe at eye-level, and it probably won't cost you a thing.
Matthew, who took the photograph, says:
This recipe is on page 651 of a 750 page cookbook. So I copied it and clipped it to the cabinet. Sweet!
Nice idea! We think that this is not a bad way keep a recipe in front of you; just don't let the flame get too close! You can see the scones Matthew baked from this chip-clipped recipe here at Flickr.

I have one of those magnetic strips mounted to my backsplash for knives, and I just keep recipes there while I'm cooking with magnets -- or sometimes a knife!

I have always used that (usually blue or yellow) tacky-adhesive stuff (you know, like for posters in your dorm room) and just stick it on a cabinet front in the area I am working in. Some constantly-used recipes are permanently affixed in the same way on the inside of some cabinet doors. (There is also a picture of Simon Baker there too, but that really has no relevance to this thread.)

I always hang recipes from the stove hood with a magnet. Works great for me...

@Pegassus I would keep a picture of Simon Baker too if my bf approved... but maybe that'd be the end of him cooking and cleaning the kitchen... the things a girl has to give up...
oh and I use a magnet too, the side of my fridge is very conveniently located!

I am a teacher, so I have lots of those magnet men hanging around my house. I often use one of them to clip my recipe to the stove hood - especially recipe cards.

I stole this trick from a friend: Clip your magazine or printout into a skirt hanger (one with clips) and hang it from a cabinet knob.

great idea!

Yipes - this is okay... but I would hate having to keep that cabinet door open while I'm cooking.
If you want the magnetic strip, the Container store has tons of narrow stick on magnetic strips. See these two:

You could even paint them to match your cabinets if you want them to blend a bit better, and i think they would be way more effective than a bag clip. Though a bag clip will work in a pinch.

Like Peggasus, I always use cello tape to stick up the recipe in front of my work station. This is a very good idea.

I use a magnet with a clip and hang the recipe on the side of my refrigerator next to the counter. A family friend gave me a book of recipes as a holiday gift several years ago, with recipes put into a 3-ring binder. Now I keep my most used recipes (printed from the Internet and such) in a binder for easy access and easy display.

I use magnet clips on my magnetic knife bar.

I use chip clips with a magnet on the back and put recipes on my fridge so they don't get food and liquid on them while I cook.

I too attach them to the hood of my stove with magnets.

Like Spaniella, I use a skirt hanger to clip recipes. I hang it from my hanging veggie baskets.
